The article aims to describe the creation of an agenda on "sexism in textbooks" on the international and national levels. To accomplish this, it includes a critical review of the literature from the 1960's to the present placing special emphasis on the changes and what remains the same, as well as the tensions detected in the implementation of policies aiming at fighting "sexism" in textbooks.
