This article offers some reflections about new family configurations, or more precisely, family models that have gained more visibility. It analyses how the issue of gay and lesbian families has appeared in recent years in Brazil, in the media and in campaigns by the GLBTT related to the civil partnership law, which has been under consideration for a number of years in the national Congress. It presents recent research conducted in Brazil about the issue.
