A three year-old male mixed breed dog, weighing 36kg was presented to Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais Veterinary Hospital, Brazil with history of nocturnal coughing, exercise intolerance, weakness, weight loss and syncopal episodes. Physical examination revealed cyanotic mucous membranes, prolonged capillary refill time, systolic regurgitant murmur at left apex and signs of congestive heart failure. Diagnostic techniques for heart disease were performed such as radiography, eletrocardiography and ecocardiography. These tests showed canine dilated cardiomyopathy.
