Correlations estimate among morfometrics measures, eggs weight and rhea chicls weight raised in captivity

Sixty-eight eggs of Rhea had been collected, in the period of 8 August to 13 September of 2003, in Quirinópolis, Goyas, Brazil. The objective was to evaluate the correlation between egg’s weight (PO), morfometrics characteristics: egg’s length (CO), egg’s width (LO), egg’s circumference (CIO), air chamber’s length (CCA), rind’s thickness (EC); birth’s weight (PN) and weight’s equivalence (EP). The egg’s weight had significant correlation (P < 001) with CO, LO e CIO; CO presented significant correlation (P < 005) com LO e CIO; LO was correlated significantly (P < 001) com CIO e (P < 005) CCA; the CIO had significant correlation (P > 005) with CCA; CCA had significant correlation (P < 001) with EC e PN; the EC presented significant correlation (P < 001) with PN and the PN had significant correlation (P < 001) with EP. The egg’s weight do not constitute selection characteristic and the air chamber length (CCA) was the considered ideal variable for selection viable embryos to the fifteen days of incubation, when they are commercialized fertilized.
