This work intended to characterize the influence of substrates on seedling emergency velocity and polyembryony of citrus rootstocks. The experiment was carried out in greenhouse using four citric rootstocks (Trifoliate orange, ‘Troyer’ Citrange, ‘Swingle’ Citrumelo and ‘Rangpur’ lime), three commercial substrates (MogimaxÒ, Plug MixÒ and Cruz AltaÒ) and a mixed substrate (carbonized rice hulls, cattle manure and soil, in the proportion of 3:1:1). Seeds were sown in conical tubes (50 cm³), with a seed in each tube. The different substrates neither affect emergency or percentage of final emergency of rootstocks seeds nor polyembryony and average number of seedling per seed. Seedling emergency velocity of citrus rootstocks is positively correlated with temperature.
