Double purpose wheat and oat pasture evaluation after perennial forage and summer crops in crop-livestock systems

Aimed to estimate dual purpose cereals on the summer crop-perennial grass pasture residue. The experimental design was randomized complete block, the winter treatments were late dual purpose wheat cv. 'BRS Tarumã' and black oat pasture cv. 'Agro Zebu' allocated on strips over summer crop residues (maize and soybean) and perennial grass pastures (Urochloa and Panicum) and pearl millet as check treatment. There was summer crop residue and winter treatment interaction to neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF) and and dry matter digestibility (DMD) only the first grazing. Forage dry matter (DM) accumulation was higher on soybean residue on the first grazing cycle. 'BRS Tarumã' yielded 2.360kg DM ha-1, that was superior to black oat pasture (1.984kg MS ha-1). Crude protein concentration was higher on first grazing period forage on winter pasture grown on soybean residues and the opposite happed on Marandu pasture. Winter crop yield and grain mass were not affected due to summer residues, but black oat yielded less than wheat.

Avena strigosa; 'BRS Tarumã'; Triticum aestivum; nutritive value
