EFFECTS OF GALLIUM ARSENIDE LASER IRRADIATIONS ON THE COMPLETE BOOD CELL COUNT OF DOGS SUBMITED TO OSTEOTOMY

Blood samples were collected from 12 mongrel healthy dogs for laboratory examination. The dogs were previously submitted to osteotomy of the diaphyseal region of the right and left tibila followed by laser therapy (AsGa) on the left hind limbs. The treatments were performed daily with dosages of 5 joules/cm² for 10 consecutive days post surgery (PS) and then from the 31st to the 40th day PS. Blood samples were collected immediately before the laser therapy, and on the days 1st, 5th, 10th, 31st, 35th and 40th day PS. The results obtained demonstrated that gallium arsenid laser did not have a significant effect on the blood cell count.
