Human self-destruction

This study analyzes the complexity of self-destructive situations in both their social dimensions and their apparent individual manifestations (suicide, accidents, homicide, illness, drug addiction, etc.). The article points out errors in the reporting of these situations and proposes methods for further study of the phenomenon. Self-destructive fantasies are discussed, especially those related to losses, narcissistic wounds, and self-destruction precipitated by the victim. Hypotheses are raised concerning fantasies related to suicides among the native Brazilian Guarani nation. The above aspects are presented to emphasize prevention in public health.
