Editorial

Dear readers,

It was with great satisfaction that we took over the editorial office of "CTA" - Food Science and Technology Periodical in January 2011. We would like to thank the support and confidence received and we, herein, commit ourselves to responsibly and ethically develop one more phase along this successful history. We are perfectly aware that, if it is possible for us, nowadays, to think about the Periodical's modernization and agility, it is because other colleagues have dared and worked hard so that this periodical could reach its present status, which includes the electronic submission of the articles and their inclusion - since 2007 - in the data base of the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI). The scientific community is very grateful to these colleagues.

When we took over the Periodical's editorial office, we became aware of the existence of over 160 articles already approved for publication and another 140 articles under evaluation. Thus, considering that the periodical releases 4 issues per year, each comprising approximately 40 articles, all issues for the year 2011 will be complete with previously approved articles (31-1; 31-2, 31-3 and 31-4). Our commitment is to make these articles available for the Ahead of Print - Scielo system, so that they can get the DOI number as soon as possible, therefore being able to be quoted. In addition, we will undertake all necessary efforts to advance the articles under assessment; for this, we count on the valuable contribution of our proofreaders.

This new editorial office will count on the collaboration of four Associate Editors: Fábio Yamashita, "Universidade Estadual de Londrina", Londrina, PR; Célia Maria Landi Franco, "Universidade Estadual Paulista", Sao Jose do Rio Preto, SP; Rafaella de Andrade Mattietto, "Embrapa Amazônia Oriental", Belem, PA and Suely Pereira Freitas, "Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro", Rio de Janeiro, RJ. We would like to thank our new collaborators for being part of the team.

Our six-editor team commits to the fact that, within 15 days, the authors will receive a reply from the editor-in-charge on the routing of the submitted articles. The new rules for submitting articles - both as regards the manner of presentation, as well as the costs involved - are available on the Periodical's website (http://www.sbcta.org.br/index.php/pasta/3).

We are fully convinced that the sum of the quality of the scientific work produced in Brazil; the competence and dedication of our proofreaders - nearing the amount of a thousand; and the commitment, from the part of the editors, to a transparent and ethical administration, will contribute to enhance even more the present status of "CTA" - Food Science and Technology Periodical in the world scenery of scientific production.

We would like to invite the whole scientific community to the take part in the future of "CTA" - Food Science and Technology. Aiming at the improvement of our work, we are open to constructive criticism and suggestions.
