Good People Protest on Sundays: An Analysis of Images Posted with the Hashtag #dia26euvou

ABSTRACT

After the 2014 presidential election, there was a split between right and left in Brazil. Once they were related to the actions of President Luís Inácio Lula da Silva and President Dilma Rousseff, the leftist ideals become deprecated. Good People Protest on Sundays: An Analysis of Images Posted with the Hashtag #dia26euvou analyzes the construction of a narrative that delegitimizes the protests of the left tagging them as hostile. For the purpose intended here, we used the case of the protest of May 26, 2019 and followed the hashtag #dia26euvou for a 24-hour period, analyzing the posted images that revealed the antagonism with left-wing manifestations.
