ABSTRACT
Goose is a term informally adopted by members of the Military Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro (PMERJ) for people who have some form of involvement with illicit drugs. In Is it all Goose? The (In)Distinction between Drug Users and Drug Dealers and their Limits from the Perspective of Military Police Officers in Rio de Janeiro, we consider the use of this term directed to two distinct groups: one is composed of suspects of drug use or trafficking and the other, by police drug users. In both groups, the goose represents a stigma which means a set of deteriorated and condemned behaviors. However, there are marked differences in the management of this stigma from the group to which the term is designated.
