The ancient approach from economics to Darwinian evolution has lately received some more finished proposals: on the one hand the "universal Darwinism" (Hodgson), to whose meta-theory economics should be supposed to subject itself, with serious limits pointed out in the text; on the other hand, the evolutionary neo-Schumpeterian analogy (Nelson & Winter), more fruiful. The latter may develop into integrated micro-macrodynamic models, capable of providing a richer realization of the evolutionary approach.
