Mulheres obesas de baixa estatura e seus filhos desnutridos

A SYNTHESIS of the studies on nutrition and health developed by the group led by the Author, wrapping urbane and rural populations of the state of Alagoas (Brazil). Is outlined the high prevalence of height-for-age deficit between the children, indicative of chronic undernutrition, and the accented frequency of obesity in the adult population, specially between the women. These data, allied to studies of food consumption, and biochemical inquiries and of morbidity, corroborate the theory of which the malnutrition in the beginning of the life increases the sensitivity to the chronic diseases in the adult age.
