abstract
This theoretical essay, based on literature, reflections and practices, aims to present and discuss the main contributions from the second seminar of the UrbanSus Cycle - Innovation, Sustainability and Systemic Action in Cities, particularly in the panels on urban innovation and human resources enablement. The text stresses the importance of multisector, multiprofessional and interdisciplinary approaches to promote the use of new ideas, new forms of management and new technologies towards urban sustainability. Among the main challenges, the following are highlighted: technology transfer and computer education; overcoming short-term economic interests; new models to fund smart solutions and for governance; diagnostic methods that leverage large quantities of data; and the strengthening of strategies for knowledge sharing, including the role of universities and postgraduate courses.
