ABSTRACT

Objective

to assess the attributes of Primary Health Care from the perspective of older adults in the municipality of Sinop, Mato Grosso.

Method

this is an evaluative research study with a cross-sectional design. The data were collected using the Primary Care Assessment Tool for interviews with 345 older adults. After the interviews, with the Primary Care Assessment Tool - Brazil, users' version, the quality level was estimated for the essential and derivative attributes with satisfactory scores ≥ 6.6, and unsatisfactory scores < 6.6. The analysis was performed using the SPSS software, version 19.0.

Results

the Logitudinality, Coordination and Completeness attributes obtained satisfactory assessments. First Contact Access obtained the worse assessment from the perspective of older adults.

Conclusion

it is verified that the first contact access constitutes a barrier to be overcome in seeking to meet the older adults' needs.
