This is an analytical-descriptive study that has as objective to reflect about the Roper, Logan and Tierney's and Orem's Nursing Self-care Model application, as conceptual base to family nursing primary health care. The interest for this study emerged of the endow necessity the Nursing Care Unit of Familiar Development Center (UCE/CEDEFAM), Fortaleza, Northeastern Brazil by a theoretical body that promote some education, research and caring activities. We evidenced that selected models has a semantics coherence becoming compatible its concomitant use despite in different stages care process. This verification it will permit to extend the conceptual base that at present is used in the care of nursing to the family at CEDEFAM.
