The present text has as object, the opening speech of the seventy years celebration of the Anna Nery School of Nursing's university life, said by its Head Master. It has as purpose to reflect about the institutional trajectory of the Anna Nery School of Nursing and its importance to the proclamation of a nurse model to the Brazilian society. The sources used and analyzed to the light of the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu toughs showed that a large investment was made in the formation of the professional habitus of the postulates to the profession, culminating in a nurse model to the Brazilian society. It was conclude that in this reflection the emblems and rituals was symbolical tools that legitimate and consecrated this model.
