The perception of adolescents with gestational recurrence on family

The study aimed to investigate what is the perception on family from the part of adolescents with gestational recurrence. There were 16 pregnant adolescents who took part in the research from the municipal districts of Sarandi (eight), Mandaguari (six) and Jandaia do Sul (two) in Paraná State. This is a descriptive-exploratory study with qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out in May 2009 through a recorded semi-structured interview, in the Health Unit of each city. All data were analyzed through the content analysis. The results showed two categories: the adolescent and her perception on family; and conceptions on the size of the family: between reality and expectations. It is concluded that the adolescents see family as synonym of bonding and they point the financial subject as the main factor when determining the family size. They look for a nuclear family, with few children, presupposing the need of planning and getting responsibility, however they demonstrate that have begun their families without any planning.
