Palliative care to the onchologic child in the situation of live / die: the optics of the care in nursing

Field research, descriptive-exploratory with qualitative approach, realized in 2009, where was aimed at knowing the nurse's perception facing the child with cancer in palliative care; to discuss how that nurse's perception interferes in the care of the child with cancer in palliative care. The subjects were five nurses of the pediatric sector of the HEMORIO, and the comprehension of the speeches occurred through thematic analysis. Notice that the care of the child with cancer in palliative care is a suffering process and a mixed of emotions to the professional, and that care go back to the promotion of the comfort, through the pain and symptoms's relief, besides the attendance to the biopsychosocial and spiritual needs, and of the support to the family. Conclude that's necessary emphasize the nursing assistance's importance in palliative care to the child with cancer, mainly under the optics of care, but also in the perspective of the development of the profession.
