Therapeutic music as a technology applied to healthcare and to the nursing teaching

The dominance of technics in assistance many times makes it impracticable to establish an expressive healthcare that promotes the humanization of the assistance practice. This study has tackled two researches that investigated the use of music as a therapeutic resource applied to healthcare and nursing teaching: musical visitations and the musical dynamics. The paper was based on the contributions of Even Ruud on the cultural context related to music and healthcare. The Sensitive-Creative Methodology was used for the data production on both researches, carried out respectively with hospitalized clients and nurses. The music visitation has been constituted as a technology to the expressive healthcare, promoting comfort, lucidity, emotional expression and integration amongst clients and of those within the environment. The dynamic music has mobilized the production of subjectivities within the nurses, who discovered the possibilities of the creative use of music as a great resource in healthcare as well as in nursing teaching.
