Gender, sexuality and education: from political affinity to theoretical-methodological tensions

It is unbearable to live within a law system composed by legal, religious, moral or educational norms and rules that discriminate individuals for their way of life as a man or a woman. It is unbearable to live in a society that discriminates someone when the desires and pleasures he/she expresses do not fulfill those named as normal. Intellectuals who discuss and reflect about gender and sexuality issues use to experience this feeling. However, besides the undeniable political affinity among these intellectuals, there are, simultaneously, many different ways to conceive what to do to concerning this political horizon. This article discusses theoretical and methodological diversity as well as pedagogical and interventionist plurality in this area, seeing diversity as indicative of vitality and actuality of these fields of studies. Recurrent concepts, as gender, sexuality, body and power are focused.
