Representations fights about school practice's development: brazilian physical education in review (1976-1979)

Abstract:

This paper analyzes, from 1976 to 1979, the differences in school's Physical Education conceptions expressed in magazine Revista de Educação Física - a publication edited, since 1932, by the Brazilian Army's Physical Education School - and in official documents that referred to this curricular component. We defend the hypothesis that, more than being just a vehicle for the military dictatorial regime's voice, the Revista de Educação Física is characterized, potentially, as an element that added difficulties to the implementation of official strategies for school Physical Education conformation in Brazil (1976-1979). It is shown that, by publishing alternative perceptions about the curricular component under debate, this magazine created, in contradiction, conditions for professionals of this area to achieve conceptions that were differentiated from the model propagated by the military dictatorship through "Política" and "Plano Nacional de Educação Física e Desportos".
