This historiographical investigation is based on two letters written by three students, who attended two of the public schools in the Province of Paraná in the nineteenth century. The letters were published on the “O Dezenove de Dezembro” newspaper on April 22nd, 1857. This research aims at identifying the experiences that emerge from these documents, and what can such experiences represent to the set of historical interpretations that has mainly been produced from sources written/produced by adults. Firstly the document corpus is problematized by raising a question about its students’ authorship, as well as about the possibilities offered by its analysis to the production of historical knowledge. Secondly both letters are analyzed, at first, disjointedly and after both together. Finally, findings of this historiographical operation are appointed.
