THE GAME AND THE "NEW EDUCATION" IN THE CLASSROOM CONTEXT: MACEIÓ, 1927-1931

ABSTRACT:

This article aims to describe the discourses of Brazilian's intellectuals education, concerning the game at school, in the 1920s and 1930s. Therefore, the study has taken the articles published in the Revista de Ensino (1927-1931) as documental source. The work has comprised the investigation of about 24 issues, published in Brazil, specifically in Maceió/AL, in the period 1927-1931. This period reveals a time of profound transformation in Brazilian education, since it gave start to the inclusion of the New Education's theories in various states. Additionally, the analysis of mentioned documents allowed the construction of a narrative that contextualizes the game conceptions in school, according to the New Education's theories in Brazil. In addition, these conceptions have shown discourses about the game as an important didactic resource and a way of meeting the school subjects through a "playful learning" focused on the child's interests.
