Cassiano Ricardo and Martim Cererê: a poem in transformation (1927-1936)

Abstract

This article shows the results of a comparative analysis of the six first versions of the poem Martim Cererê, which was published for the first time in 1927 by Cassiano Ricardo. This analysis reveals the changes made by the author and how they did not just derive from esthetical or grammatical revisions, but also present nuances from political tensions that pervaded the intellectual scene in which Cassiano Ricardo acted.
