abstract
The work discusses the ethical proposal of Ricardo Lísias’ novel, Divorce, as it pertains to journalism, particularly the relationship between the sources and journalists. Lisias’ text shows examples of the almost obscene relationship between informers and journalists and their unethical behavior, transforming said relation into a metaphor of Brazilian society. To this end the article makes use of theoretical questions present in journalism manuals and two representative events: the Watergate scandal in the USA and the Collor de Mello impeachement case in Brazil, in order to show the different conducts adopted by journalists in both situations and the proximity of said events to the current Brazilian context.
