Open-access Categorization of craft beer from the perspective of librarianship: the choice of the label is in focus

Abstract:

The objective of the work is to apply the fundamentals of categorization from the perspective of Library Science to organize information about craft beer. It uses the drink's label as a reference in order to assist the search for information by laypeople. Craft beer is a product easily found in markets in Brazil, but the labels do not provide much information about the contents of the drink. It is an exploratory and descriptive investigation focused on the analysis of six labels from the Fluminense brewery Hocus Pocus, considering relevant information for each of the bottles in the elaboration of the categories Family, Styles, Alcohol Content, Characteristics, and Other Information. It was noted that by separating the information present on the beer labels into categories and creating examples for selection, this organization is a way to facilitate the identification of the drink.
