Practical training from the perspective of students of pedagogy

Abstract

This article presents the results of a research that aimed to investigate the perception of students regarding the practical training they get in two undergraduate programs in pedagogy. This case study included a semi-structured interview as technique for collecting information. Twelve students participated in this research. Among the main results, it is important to emphasize the positive evaluation of the practical training, because it allows an early immersion in the educational context and an approach to the professional role of the teacher. Additionally, practical training is seen as a factor that contributes to promote the reflections with respect to pedagogical tasks, although it is only at an individual level. Additionally, it is observed that there is a permanent distance between the academic knowledge and the knowledge required from the classrooms, and that there is an execution of school subjects-workshops centered on content transmission, which continues validating an understanding based on an applicationist technique within this educational environment.
