ABSTRACT:
Science teaching does not usually approach the philosophical dimension of science, which involves ontological and epistemological aspects related to a worldview. I present a bibliographical review that is part of a master’s research and which aims to identify the thematic approaches mobilized by national and foreign authors of Science Education on ontological and epistemological aspects of science. In the 144 selected articles, there is a recurring discussion about the nature of reality and the possibility of knowing it, in addition to a valuation of the epistemological approach. I analyzed 11 works from this corpus based on historical and dialectical materialism, presenting new perspectives of the philosophical discussion about reality for Science Education.
