This paper presents an overview of environmental education in Brazil, considering the constituent trends and prospects in this field. It initially discusses the diversity of experiences and reflections that clarify the differing points and common methods of work, conceptual approaches and political commitments in this field. Finally, it analyses the production of academic research in Brazil in recent decades, emphasizing its numerical growth in an effort to set the current trends in academic research.
