This article analyzes discourses of white people about the bipolar system of racial classification. It focuses on the function and effects of discourse. Often, in these discourses, the bipolar system of racial classification appears as a product of racism and the Brazilian people appear as a mixed race, as a people free of racial separation. They are discourses that hide our racism and the inequality between whites and blacks.
