Curricular changes from official documents in the training of physical education teachers in Uruguay in the 1960s

ABSTRACT

The study addresses the tensions and borrowings between normalism and university in the 1960s in the training of physical education teachers at the Instituto Superior de Educación Física (ISEF) in Uruguay. The analysis focuses on the vision of the training from official documents. Among the sources analyzed are: the preliminary project and the study plan, the internal regulations and the entry regulations, all designed in 1966 as a result of an intervention by the conservative government of the time, and different curricular prescriptions, such as circulars, notes, letters and documents from the main references and authors in this training. The main curricular transformations of the decade are analyzed, since the normalism-university tension, as well as how the latter operated in the modes of configuration of physical education and in the education of the student bodies. It is asked about the continuities and ruptures that were established between this decade and the first two of this formation. What knowledge was part of the curriculum of this formation in the 1966 curriculum?
