This article discusses the reasons why the cities of Curitiba, Paranaguá and Ponta Grossa, all located in the State of Paraná, were chosen to receive the construction of the first state Normal Schools in the period between 1904 and 1927. It also discusses how these schools were represented in the speeches and actions that legitimized the construction of these school buildings, in the views of political representatives, school inspectors, teachers, and the press.
