This study presents the state of the art mapping in Leisure Studies in Brazil (XXth and XXIst centuries). The following sources of information were used: 1) works mentioned by authors who study knowledge production in Recreation and Leisure in Brazil; 2) information given on the curricula registered in Plataforma Lattes (Key words: recreation, idleness, leisure and free time); 3) the online collection of university libraries, National Library, Library of the National Congress. The dynamics of knowledge production are explored. Authors and privileged themes are chronologically situated. Hopefully, the information associated to radical and strict historical studies of the context in which this knowledge production happens will allow a better understanding of the production processes and knowledge transmission in Recreation and Leisure in Brazil.
