The senses of the presence of young people in High School: school representations in three student-made films

This paper discusses the challenges facing education policies if high school is to be meaningful for young people. Enrolment grew, bringing a public from the lower classes into schools which are informed by elitist representations. The school meaning crisis is, to a great extent, the result from the distances between adult representations and the actual ways of being and living the time of youth. Based on the analysis of three films produced by high school students, this paper discusses the issue of singularity, ways of learning and the role of schools as an existential support for young people. Schools need to be structured under principles of dialogism between subjects who have multiple experiences and knowledge which in constant interaction.
