INSTITUTIONAL RACISM AND HIRING PROFESSORS AT BRAZILIAN FEDERAL UNIVERSITIES

ABSTRACT

This study analyzes the implementation of Law 12,990/2014 in the scope of federal universities. The data regarding black professors’ entry into office in federal universities were collected via the Law of Access to Information. The sample consists of 54 universities that responded adequately to the request. As we can see in the results, the implementation of the norm cannot break the scenario of institutional racism in these institutions. The numbers reveal that there is a difficulty in applying the norm, consequently strengthening institutional racism.
