SOME ASPECTS OF THE REORGANIZATION OF THE MOVEMENT OF PUBLIC TEACHERS IN THE STATE OF RIO DE JANEIRO (1977-1980)

This work studies the movement of public teachers led by the Centro Estadual de Profissionais de Ensino (State Center for Teaching Professionals) in Rio de Janeiro, between 1977 and 1980. Rescuing the history of this Institution through its registers and documents, and exploring the possibility that teaching organizations may become educators of educators, thus opening a new stage in the professionalization of teachers, was the aim of the master's degree thesis on which the present text is based. Comparing documents from political parties (that analyze the movement) and the interviews with various participants in the movement allowed us to reconstruct the history of the first years of this institution. The results obtained led us to question the role of this union as a Hegemony Apparatus (in the sense proposed by Gramsci, i.e. of a political organizer much more than of a defender of the economical-corporative interests).
