The professors′ training in the context of transnationalization of education: reflections from the implementation of the Bologna Process in Spain and Portugal

In recent years intense transformations are taking place within the European universities and there is an intensification of concern about the professors′ training. Those professors are seen as key agents of change by the reconfiguration of the role of teaching in higher education. Through the study of two specific cases in Spain and Portugal, it appears that the transnational character of the reform resonates strongly in the work force and training of professors, by means of legal adequacy, the mechanisms of control and the vision of education as a strategy of adaptation. Finally, we propose as an investigative perspective to analyze the relations between the European reform movements and the recent integration of higher education systems in Latin America.
