The first part of the article considers graduation teaching, discussing, in a critical way, arguments employed to justify reforms that conform the school to economic and professional mutations. We also discuss the decisive links between graduation teaching and other dimensions of the university research, masters degree, extension. This last one, acquiring importance in the last decades, receives particular attention in the second part of the article, that discusses the place of that activity inside academic activities, including risks and potentialities.
