NEW PATHS TO SOCIOLOGY: TECHNOLOGIES IN EDUCATION AND DIGITAL ACCOUNTABILITY

ABSTRACT

The article begins exploring the digital sociology and describing some expressions of the current capitalism, in order to situate the emergence of a digital accountability. It is taken into account the reality of some educational systems in relation to the impact of the platforms and the urgency to discuss how their use is being, or can be, related to the problem of accountability. Considering that datafication is not neutral, neither ethically nor politically, it is highlighted the need to guarantee processes for data collection and processing that are viable in terms of transparency, and democratically open to scrutiny, avoiding that important questions in education are left to the action (or decision) of the algorithms and digital platforms as increasingly powerful administration and management tools.
