This text atempts to understand the "curriculum" that, for centuries, has allowed caipiras to transmit their culture. It tries to show that this educational process involved daily work, religiosity and group solidarity. It is a critical qualitative research that brings forward an ethnographic case from a holistic perspective. Analyses were progressive theorizations developed during the research, in interaction with fieldwork. In its conclusion, this paper highlights the impact of rural migration and school on the caipira culture and as well as of the consequences of the current education policies in rural areas
