Research and knowledge production in Brazilian post-graduation in education: a dialogue with Maria Célia Moraes e Acácia Kuenzer

Based on a paper by Moraes and Kuenzer published in Educação & Sociedade 93, which raised issues related to post-graduation in Education, this paper discusses the history and development of education as a field of studies considering various possible contributions of research and presenting aspects that differ from and even contradict those brought forth by these authors. In total agreement with the referred authors about the importance of the practice-theory relations to the field, it claims that the history of the "education" area allows widening this discussion. The complexity and transdisciplinarity that characterize the educational field is regarded as a mediator of both multiple practices and theories and different modes of thinking and acting with them. Considering education as a field which comprehends multiple practices, the authors focus on the notion of interwoven knowledge nets so as to grasp the ways theory and practice are articulated, which could not be achieved otherwise.
