This paper discusses the ongoing University Reform in Brazil aiming at a global approach integrating reflections on the Reform to others matters that compose the governmental agenda. The empirical basis comprises statements of authorities and of personalities from this area published by the press, official documents and Projects of Law already sent to Congress. Its analysis gives a special highlight to the processes that point to the privatization of the higher educational system with the consequent impoverishment of the university mission and the commoditization of knowledge production.
