The aim of this work was to verify the effects of the psychological intervention (cognitive) followed by relaxation/visualization training introduced in the preoperative period of patients submitted to of alveolar bone graft surgery. The 14 individuals of both sexes, between 9 and 12 years old were divided in experimental group (G.E./N=7) and control group (G.C./N=7). After the pre-surgical orientation, both groups were interviewed and the G.E. was submitted to relaxation and visualization. In the post-operative all of them received psychological accompaniment and they were appraised in two situations. The obtained results indicated larger gains in the psycho-organic conditions and other gains to the G.E.. When the psychological interventions are introduced in the preoperative they can improve the patients' post-operative conditions.
