The grandparent's role in adolescent's maternity

The present study focus the grandparent's role specially in adolescent's maternity. In this context, psychosocial and familiar aspects involving the relations between different generations are discussed. It was verified that the majority of the researches has emphasized the maternal grandmothers. The data has confirmed that does exist at least three adolescent mothers-grandmothers typical situations: the child's care responsibility assumed by the grandparents; the adolescent motherhood inhibition though the grandparents situation control, as they have no trust in the adolescent's maturity and were very much embarrassed with this adolescent pregnancy; and the adolescent's motherhood total assumption with the grandparent's support role. Nevertheless, in some researches conflicts about the mother -grandmother roles were identified in some maternal grandmothers.
