This study sought to comprehend the perceptions and experiences of children faced with changes that occurred in their lives due to the remarriage of one or both parents, in the family life context. It is a qualitative study, the participants of which were four young adults. They took part in an interview that was analyzed using Thematic Content Analysis. It was concluded that, despite the initial difficulties due to changes in the physical structure, in the routine, and in the household dynamics, with the introduction of new characters (stepfather/stepmother, half-siblings and stepsiblings), the participants reported more positive aspects than negative in this configuration, except in one case where the participant presented difficulties in the relationship with the stepmother.
