Open-access BRIQUETTING, HISTORIC VIEW AND THE FUTURE PERSPECTIVE

In several european countries and North America, the briquetting is a very developed and spreaded process, with an extensive industrial and domestic utilization for several decades. Briquetting history began with the fuel and energy scarcity occured with the european population during I World War, since that time the briquetting evolution was significative until the present days. In spite of the almost total unknowledge and seldon usage of briquetts in Brazil, there is a promising potential, what can lead to a most rational utilization of the energy available, reducing the present waste of industrial and agricultural residues. Consequently, a reduction of costs and of the energy consumed at the industrial and domestic sectors will be possible, besides a reduction of the pollution levels, resulting from the substitution of fossile fuels for briquetts.
