In vitro and ex vitro rooting of Dyckia distachya Hassler, under different concentrations of iba

Abstract

Dyckia distachya is a terrestrial endemic bromeliad native of Brazil. This species is threatened with extinction since its habitat, the Atlantic Forest is endangered. Considering that this bromeliad is terrestrial their roots are functional and absorb nutrients from the soil. In the present work it was evaluated two methods of root induction: in vitro and ex vitro using micropropagated shoots as explants. The results showed that the rooting of D. distachya shoots should be done in vitro with the use of IBA in the concentrations of 10-15 mM during 10-15 days and subsequent transference to ex vitro conditions.
