Allelopathy effects of jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus).

An experiment was made, aiming to detect in pulp, green leaves and falling leaves of jaqueira (Artocarpus heterophyllus), using lettuce seeds, as receiving species. In comparison with distilled water, the extracts of the plant had strong inhibitory effect in the germination. These data, besides indicating the necessity of a more detailed study, point with respect to relevant characteristics that must be considered for the control of invasion of this species, in protected areas.
