Conflicts and possible dialogues between parks and populations: Park Intervales and Guapiruvu as a study case, SP.

This work approaches the conflicts and cooperation’s between Intervales State Park and one of its surrounding communities, the Guapiruvu neighborhood (Sete Barras, SP). In the last ten years, the illegal harvesting of palmito (Euterpe edulis) increase in the region, which was extremely linked with the social exclusion and economic crisis. From an opposite side, the Guapiruvu Association (AGUA), started to organize the local public political and a reivindicative movement. More than a constant dialogue between the local leaderships and the park managers, an effective and durable partnership should be established, allowing both, nature conservation and social development.
